Caveats

  • "Fire" here means an unplanned wildfire (WFIGS's own "WF" incident type); prescribed burns and administrative fire complexes are excluded.
  • WFIGS/IRWIN had negligible Idaho coverage before 2014, so the county and state counts and acres cover 2014-2025 only; the underlying incident records go back to 2008 but are too sparse before 2014 to sum.
  • The county and state counts and acres burned are computed by this site from the individual incident records; the National Interagency Fire Center does not publish them in this form.

Where sources disagree

  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2014: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,180. The two are compiled by different processes (WFIGS is a live incident-tracking system, NICC's annual report a separately compiled tally) and are not reconciled.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2015: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,324. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2016: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 630. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2017: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,598. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2018: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,132. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2019: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 960. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2020: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 944. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2021: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,332. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2022: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 1,088. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
  • Wildfires by county, Idaho, 2023: NIFC (Wildland fires and acres burned by state) publishes 892. Not reconciled; see the 2014 note.
