Caveats

  • Figures are for Census of Agriculture years only: 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2022; the Census is taken every five years and does not fill the intervening years.
  • agriculture.land_in_farms_acres is Quick Stats' 'FARM OPERATIONS - ACRES OPERATED' series, the Census's land-in-farms concept: all acreage in the operation regardless of ownership or use.
  • agriculture.market_value_products is the market value of all agricultural products sold, in current (not inflation-adjusted) dollars for each Census year, so year-over-year figures are not directly comparable without a deflator.
  • USDA withholds some county-level figures for disclosure avoidance when too few farms report a value; those observations are omitted rather than estimated. Land in farms is withheld for Boise County and Shoshone County in 2012.
  • publisherUpdated is the load date NASS Quick Stats stamps on the newest (2022) county-level release; individual older Census years were loaded on their own release dates.
