Idaho public school fall membership (headcount) by district or charter school and by grade, and the same for charter schools alone, both compiled by the State Department of Education back to the mid-1990s.

Caveats

Membership counts enrollment as of the first day of October, or the nearest prior school day; a student enrolled in two LEAs is counted in each.
Charter enrollment is already included in the statewide total. From 2018 on, the statewide total is the sum of every district and charter LEA's membership; for 1995 to 2017 SDE's own LEA rows differ from its printed state total, by up to 6,171 students (1996) and by under 400 from 2004 on.
Two LEA blocks in SDE's workbook carry no name (The Village Charter School, 2011 to 2023; Upper Carmen Public Charter, 2015 to 2023); each is named by matching its figures to SDE's charter enrollment workbook.
Period is the calendar year the school year begins in; period 2024 is school year 2024-25.
No district-to-county crosswalk exists in SDE's workbooks, so only statewide totals are published here.
Category is the LEA name as SDE prints it in each year, not normalized or merged across years even when an LEA was renamed.
Charter totals for 2012-13 (18,781.5), 2013-14 (19,366.5) and 2014-15 (19,700.38) carry a fractional count, from a school counted at partial-year FTE; kept as printed.

Where sources disagree

Public school enrollment, Idaho, 2022: the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) publishes 317,555. NCES Digest of Education Statistics table 208.40 (fall 2022 state enrollment, from the Common Core of Data State Nonfiscal survey) reports 317,555 for Idaho, versus the department's own fall 2022 membership count of 318,979. The department's count is the state's fall school membership; NCES's figure is the state-reported total it compiles for that survey year, which can differ slightly in scope or count date.

Caveats

Membership counts enrollment as of the first day of October, or the nearest prior school day; a student enrolled at two schools is counted at each.

Category is the school name as SDE prints it, with its district or charter LEA's name in parentheses to tell apart schools that share a name across different LEAs; a school renamed over the years keeps its most recent name across its whole history here rather than a different category per rename.
Seven schools under four LEAs operate under interstate border agreements, serving mostly out-of-state resident students in Wyoming and Oregon; SDE prints their enrollment here but leaves it out of the statewide total, so summing every school's enrollment for a year runs a little above the statewide figure for that year.
Counts charter local education agencies (LEAs) reporting a membership figure that year, not individual charter school buildings; a few charter LEAs operate more than one building.

Where sources disagree

Fall enrollment by school, Idaho, 2023: the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Common Core of Data publishes 390. For school year 2023-24, of 782 Idaho schools both the department and NCES's Common Core of Data reported, 428 matched exactly and the rest differed by a median of 12 students. The largest gap was Victory Charter School: the department's own count was 515, NCES's Common Core of Data reports 390. The two publishers count enrollment on different dates and can classify a school's students differently.
Fall enrollment by school, Idaho, 2023: the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Common Core of Data publishes 396. Liberty Charter LEA: the department's own school year 2023-24 count was 509, NCES's Common Core of Data reports 396, the second-largest gap among the 782 Idaho schools both publishers reported that year.
Fall enrollment by school, Idaho, 2023: the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Common Core of Data publishes 0. Idaho Falls District's Virtual Preparatory Academy of Idaho, secondary building: the department's own school year 2023-24 count was 110, NCES's Common Core of Data reports 0 for the same NCES school id, apparently reporting this building's students under a different school that year.

Caveats

Value is full-time-equivalent (FTE) average base salary plus extra and duty pay for staff whose job assignment is classified as Teacher, not base salary alone.
Idaho's own time series starts in school year 2016-17; no standalone certificated salary report exists before that year.
Period 2024 (school year 2024-25) is read from a PDF report with whole-dollar figures, unlike other years' cents-precision Excel figures.
The interstate comparison is for school year 2021-22, the newest year NCES has published, not the same year as Idaho's own newest (2025) figure.

Measures

Average teacher salary (usd): Average annual salary (base salary plus extra/duty pay) of public school teachers, by year. Idaho is a full annual time series from SDE; every other state and the US total is the newest year NCES's Digest of Education Statistics table 211.60 publishes.
