Caveats

  • The scope is Idaho Power's system, not the State of Idaho. Idaho Power serves southern Idaho and a corner of eastern Oregon; Rocky Mountain Power's eastern Idaho customers and the cooperatives and municipal utilities of northern Idaho are not in these figures, and some of Idaho Power's supply is sold wholesale outside Idaho.
  • Purchased power is not split by fuel. From fiscal 2007 to 2022 the 10-K splits it into cogeneration and small power production (PURPA contracts, mostly Idaho wind, solar, geothermal and biomass) and other purchases; that split is in the raw text and not carried as observations.
  • The jointly owned plants (Jim Bridger, North Valmy, and Boardman until its 2020 retirement) are one row throughout, labelled Coal-fired plants through the fiscal 2023 10-K, Steam-fired plants in fiscal 2024 and Jointly-owned thermal plants in fiscal 2025 as Bridger units were converted to natural gas; the series carries the current label. For 1998-2006 the 10-K combined these plants with the gas plants as Thermal, kept as its own category for those years; the fiscal 2009 filing supplies the coal and gas split back to 2007.
  • Total power supply and purchased power are printed from fiscal 2007. Earlier filings give system generation only.
  • A year's figures are taken from that year's own filing; the two later filings that repeat the year agree with it to within one thousand megawatt-hours (2008 purchased power is 3,717 in one filing and 3,716 in the next).
  • Thousands of megawatt-hours as printed are stored as gigawatt-hours; the publisher rounds to the thousand.
