Caveats

  • 2006 is not available: it is not listed in ISP's own archived-report browser under any URL this puller could find, unlike every other year from 2005 through the newest report.
  • 2014's detailed offense-by-category table has no extractable text in the source PDF (its numbers appear to be rendered as a graphic there); 2014 has no crime.offenses_by_type observations and no crime.dui_arrests observation, though its statewide totals, rate, and person/property/society counts are unaffected, since those come from the report's separate 'Facts At A Glance' prose summary.
  • crime.offenses_total and crime.offense_rate are taken from each report's 'Facts At A Glance' summary, not from the detailed offense table's own grand-total row: for at least one year (2005) that table's own printed rate does not arithmetically match its offense count divided by its own stated population base, while the Facts At A Glance rate does.
  • Offense category names and definitions have drifted over 2005-2025 (for example the 2013 UCR rape-definition change, and general relabeling such as "Forcible Rape" becoming "Rape"), so crime.offenses_by_type categories are not identical across all years; each observation's category is ISP's own label for that year.
  • County-level crime.offense_rate covers 2021-2025 only, from the one five-year 'County Totals 5 Year Trend' table in the current report, printed to the whole number; earlier years are not available at the county level in any single document, and no county offense counts are published in that table.
  • County rates are ISP's own published Group A crime rates per 100,000 population, taken from the five-year trend table under the heading 'Idaho Group A Crime Rate'. The same document's ranked county list prints the current year to two decimals (Ada County 2,909.34 beside the table's 2,909); the table's whole-number figure is used so all five years share one precision.
  • County rates are highly sensitive to small changes in offense counts for Idaho's least-populous counties (for example Clark County, population under 800): a rate that looks extreme for a small county reflects a small denominator, not necessarily a data error.
  • DUI arrests (crime.dui_arrests) are Group B arrests, a different, non-NIBRS-classified arrest category from the Group A offense counts and rates above; earlier reports label this row "DUI", later reports "Driving Under the Influence".
