Caveats
- 2006 has no report: ISP's archived-report browser lists none for that year.
- The 2014 offense-by-category table cannot be read from the source PDF; that year has no offense-type breakdown or DUI arrest figures.
- The statewide offense total and rate always use the Facts At A Glance figure; in 2005 the detailed offense table's own total and rate disagreed with its arithmetic.
- Offense category names have changed since 2005 (for example the 2013 rape-definition change), so categories are not identical across years.
- County rates cover 2021-2025 only, from the five-year county trend table, printed to the whole number (the ranked county list prints Ada County as 2,909.34); no county offense counts are published.
- In a county with few residents, one offense moves the rate by a large amount; Clark County has under 800 residents.
- A city's rate is its own police department's rate on a different population base than the county rate; the two are not comparable.
- City rates span 2013-2025 but not every city every year; Post Falls has none for 2020 or 2021.
Measures
- Total Group A offenses (count): Total Group A (NIBRS) offenses reported statewide in a calendar year.
- Group A offense rate (per 100k): Group A (NIBRS) offenses per 100,000 population, as published by ISP: the statewide figure from each report's Facts At A Glance summary, county figures from the five-year county trend table in the current County-Agency Crime Rates report, and place figures (ten cities' own police departments) from the same report's five-year Police Department Totals table, merged across every reachable edition.
- Crimes against persons (count): Group A offenses classified as crimes against persons, statewide, in a calendar year.
- Crimes against property (count): Group A offenses classified as crimes against property, statewide, in a calendar year.
- Crimes against society (count): Group A offenses classified as crimes against society, statewide, in a calendar year.
- Offenses by category (count): Group A offenses reported statewide in a calendar year, broken out by ISP's own offense category label.
- DUI arrests (count): Statewide arrests for driving under the influence (a Group B arrest category) in a calendar year.
