Caveats

  • This is a sample survey estimate, not a full enumeration, and is revised in later NASS releases.
  • Understand Idaho pulls this series through USDA's Quick Stats programmatic API, which requires a registration key. The interactive tool linked above needs no key and returns the same figures.
  • NASS surveys potatoes only in states where the crop is commercially significant: 13 states were surveyed for the 2025 crop. A state missing from a year's ranking was not surveyed that year, not a gap in this pull.
  • Price received is for the marketing year, which runs past the calendar year the crop was harvested in, so it is published later than that year's acreage and production.
  • Acres planted and harvested for the current crop year are published before that year's production, yield, price and value, which need the completed harvest and marketing-year prices.
  • Idaho county figures run from 1949 through 2018 only; NASS has published no county-level potato estimate for Idaho since the 2018 crop, even as the statewide series continues. Counties shown also vary year to year because most are withheld in most years to avoid disclosing a small number of operations.
