Caveats
- Value is the January 1 count of all cattle and calves, from Quick Stats' 'CATTLE, INCL CALVES - INVENTORY' series with reference_period_desc FIRST OF JAN; a separate July 1 mid-year count Quick Stats also carries for 1973-1981 is excluded so each year has exactly one observation.
- This is a sample survey estimate, not a full enumeration, and is revised in later NASS releases; the value stored is the figure Quick Stats currently returns, which for recent years may differ slightly from the originally published estimate.
- publisherUpdated is the load date NASS Quick Stats stamps on the newest (January 1, 2026) estimate.
